Welcome

Everyone has a story. This is mine.

My name is Hillary. I grew up in a small town in Northwest Arkansas where my parents still reside in the log home I lived in for many years. After graduating high school in 2002, I enrolled at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith with the intention of obtaining a degree in architecture.

In the summer of 2004, after a few years experiencing the stereotypical college life of switching majors and hoping to “find myself,” I found out I was pregnant. A few short months later, I learned my baby would most likely be born with birth defects that may affect her eyes, face, and possibly, her brain.

The next months were a firestorm inside me, fueled by unknowns and possibilities instead of facts and plans for which I constantly searched.

In February 2005, Madilyn Grace Welch was born and the world would never be the same.

I feel like my story is worth sharing with the rest of the world. I welcome you to follow along in my journey. I hope you enjoy it, but even more, I hope it inspires you to reflect upon your own life and take action where it leads you.
